Curriculum (K-6)

Striving for excellence through a supportive and stimulating learning environment.

We offer a broad and diverse curriculum endorsed by the NSW Board of Studies, based on educational programs incorporating productive and coordinated planning. We continuously evaluate the quality of our courses to ensure their excellence is maintained, and enables holistic student development in spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social aspects of being, reflecting the diverse needs of a life-long learning process.

We provide a complete academic program in an environment that integrates learning, cultural heritage, religious instruction, Gospel values, and spiritual formation into all aspects of a comprehensive and challenging curriculum. We endeavour to ensure the practice of faith in Jesus Christ lives out in the daily experience of our dedicated staff and students.

English

English is taught with a focus on reading comprehension, writing, spelling, speaking, listening, grammar, and punctuation. For younger students, the program emphasises reading fluency, phonics, and comprehension as essential components.

Literature studies help students develop analytical and deductive thinking skills. Verbal and written communication is encouraged and supported by technology. Our goal is for students to communicate effectively, use expressive language, and become confident communicators and seekers of knowledge.

Mathematics

Mathematics equips students with the skills to problem-solve, reason, make informed decisions, and interpret data. Students engage in group and independent work, utilising hands-on equipment and digital technology.

Individualised tasks foster a deep understanding of key concepts, while daily practice and challenging activities ensure mastery. Through these approaches, our students develop strong mathematical skills and the ability to think critically, preparing them for future success in problem-solving and decision-making.

Science & Technology

Through exploration, students are encouraged to find solutions, develop methodologies, and understand scientific processes while thinking and working scientifically.

Technology is integrated across learning environments with wireless network access, interactive SMART Boards, desktop computers, laptops, and iPads. In K-2, students use iPads as part of their learning, while a 1:1 device program is implemented in Years 3-6 to enhance educational experiences and support digital learning.

History and Geography (HSIE)

History and Geography are taught as a process of inquiry from Kindergarten, exploring the actions, motives, and lifestyles of people over time, expanding to national and world contexts.

Students study the physical, man-made, and natural worlds. Younger students begin by exploring their school and local environment, progressing to the study of life, culture, and Australia’s political structure, with an emphasis on developing an Aboriginal perspective and understanding its significance in history.

Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)

PDHPE is a key learning area focused on supporting the holistic development of students.

It provides opportunities for students to explore issues affecting their health, safety, and wellbeing, both now and in the future. Students also engage in challenging and enjoyable physical activities, helping them develop skills, confidence, and the ability to move with agility, while fostering a deeper understanding of personal and social health.

Christian Studies

Christian Studies focuses on the teachings of Jesus Christ and nurturing Christian faith, aligned with the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East. The curriculum covers key Christian doctrines, drawing from scripture, tradition, and liturgy.

It aims to deepen students’ spiritual journey and cultivate their interest in God. The goal is to empower students to live out the College’s spiritual motto, “In Him We Grow,” through knowledge, commitment, and devotion.

Assyrian Language

Assyrian language is taught in Years K-10 to promote national, cultural, and religious values. The program encourages pride in learning the language, history, and culture while developing essential language skills.

Students engage in cultural and community activities, including Assyrian New Year, cooking traditional foods, and Assyrian dance classes. These experiences help preserve and pass on Assyrian customs and traditions to future generations, ensuring their continued relevance and understanding.

Creative & Performing Arts (CAPA)

Music lessons develop skills in playing, listening, and appreciation, including Prayers, Hymns, and the School Choir. Dance fosters creativity through movement, teaching techniques, styles, and performance skills. Drama boosts confidence and imagination through acting in a supportive environment, while Visual Arts encourages both creativity and technical skill through design tasks and critical exploration.

Together, these subjects nurture artistic expression and personal growth, empowering students to explore their creative potential across multiple disciplines.
